Liz Avery
Originally inspired by comic book and graphic art, I paint mainly in acrylic, concentrating on heavily cropped images, strong blocks of colour and outlines.
In the last few years, I have focused on figurative and floral subjects but now I find myself wandering around in different natural themes looking for new pathways. When you get lost and don’t know what to do next, it seems like a good plan to go back to the beginning and just play with colour!
This is a series of flowers that bloom in May, with the exception of the honeysuckle, which just happens to be my favourite.
Inspired by William Morris, 1930s landscape and garden design, pop art and graphics, the result are bright and bold paintings.
Commissions for individual pieces and illustrations can be undertaken.
