Angie Broome
My painting is often very bright and reflects my English/Sicilian heritage. I think I am trying to paint the smell and heat of places familiar to me from memory, tiny ancient black and white photos or sketches made in situ. I work in acrylic on canvas or paper. My English side is inspired by nature, my garden and fleeting moments.
Drypoint offers me the opportunity to draw and print in a gestural manner, giving my brain a workout by having to work in reverse, perhaps this is why the prints are sometimes funny. I hope my work evokes a reaction.
