Tim Willcox

Tim Willcox is a contemporary mixed-media artist from Bristol. He works with acrylic, collage, texture and metallic wax to create expressive, paintings exploring seams between the natural and the man-made.

With a background in advertising, Tim has spent much of his working life communicating other people’s ideas. Now focused on his own practice, developing a personal visual language driven by instinct and a fascination with the marks we leave on the world.

His latest body of work, ASH (2026), explores destruction, transformation and the traces left behind. Drawing on scorched landscapes and industrial decay, the series combines deep reds, charred blacks, metallic golds and bronzes.

Layers of paint, collage and mark-making, surfaces are disrupted, scraped back, allowing fragments of earlier decisions to remain visible.

While ASH carries an underlying an awareness of environmental change, the paintings are not intended as literal illustrations of a particular message but an abstract translation.
