Megan Wakelam
Wild swimming and coastal adventures are central to my life, deeply informing my paintings. These experiences bring clarity and creative energy, which I translate onto canvas.
Working predominantly in oil, I softly blend layers of paint to capture the changing moods of the elements. Seascapes remain a consistent focus, as I seek to convey a sense of vastness and the space between chaos and calm.
Moments of stillness, shaped by turbulence.
Many of us feel a strong connection to the coast — I create commissioned works tailored to particular spaces or places of personal significance. Rather than literal representations, these pieces capture the essence of a landscape.
My practice continues to evolve through an ongoing exploration of the shifting language of the sea and sky.
